Memories from Those Who Knew Him
Peter was the most amazing guitar teacher and friend for me. He took my playing to a whole new level that I wasn’t even looking for when we first met. He had an amazing ability to discern how I learned, and that was the breakthrough. Our half hour sessions in my home often turned into long evenings of wine tastings and discussions about world events, history, music, and more. I miss him every day and look forward to this concert. Hopefully it will help me follow through on my resolution to sponsor another open mic night at the Blind Whino, or whatever the venue is now called!
A handwritten note on a napkin given to Peter Fields after hearing him play: “Dear Mr. Magic, I want you to know that your music, your passion, excellence and soul have brought me huge pleasure tonight and has awakened my soul. Know that your gifts, your dedication to your art have been truly and deeply seen this night! Thank you for this wonderful gift to us. May you be blessed and may your music lift and inspire many others as they have me.”
I heard Peter playing classical guitar at Fredericksburg venues several times when I was living there in the 90s/2000s and it was inspiring. I play as well and he reached out many times to let me know what he was up to and to support my projects around the state. He was such a generous spirit and a beautiful musician. I am honored to serve his memory whenever I perform in Fredericksburg.
Pete’s music was a blessing for our congregation!
